- Casting heads made of forged steel up to 1.5 inches (38 mm), cast alloy steel from 1.57 inches (40 mm) to 3.94 inches (100 mm).
- All cast steel potting heads from 1.57 inches (40 mm) are magnetic particle and ultrasonic tested. Acceptance test available on request.
- Sizes 0.79 inches (20 mm) to 1.5 inches (38 mm) receive 2 potting heads. Sizes 1.57 inches (40 mm) and larger receive 3 potting heads.
- All cast steel potting heads from 1.57 inches (40 mm) are tested with magnetic particle and ultrasound. Acceptance test available on request.
- Based on the nominal breaking strength of the wire rope, grouting head endings achieve 100% efficiency. Specifications are based on the use of recommended wire ropes 6 x 7, 6 x 19 or 6 x 36, IPS or XIP (EIP), XXIP (EEIP), RRL, FC or IWRC. Strand made of minimum number of wires (e.g. 1 x 7), taking into account that the basket should be five times (5 times) the strand diameter or fifty times (50 times) the wire diameter, whichever is greater.
- Casting heads with lugs shall meet the performance requirements of RR-S-550E, Type B, except as required by the contracting officer.
