Exemplary fostering of internal talent. In the fight against the lack of specialists, the Süßen-based company Carl Stahl identified the signs of the times many years ago and has since placed great focus on the exemplary fostering of talent from within the company. The traditional Swabian company offers both apprentices and students the optimum conditions for professional and personal development. The annual induction week to mark the official start of the training is just one of the many internal measures that have now been established with sustainable success. The possibilities for joining Carl Stahl and the range of apprenticeships available are as broad as the spectrum of services offered by the company’s individual divisions. “At the moment, we have about 60 apprentices and students spread across all our sites throughout Germany”, explains HR Manager Carola Franzel. “The range of apprenticeship positions stretches from industrial clerks, office communication specialists, industrial engineers and metalworkers to warehouse logistics experts.” Carl Stahl furthermore offers combined work-study programmes, ideally in the specialist areas of mechanical and industrial engineering. It is also always happy to offer students of the broadest range of disciplines the opportunity to complete an internship or practical semester in the company. The benefits are clear At Carl Stahl, the foundations for a good start to a successful professional career are laid from an early stage within the scope of the annual induction week that marks the official start of training. This year, 12 apprentices and students from six different sites took part in the initiative. In addition to informative training courses and seminars, the agenda also included many other support measures and fun activities, including a tour of the company’s very own museum, a scavenger hunt, a process evolution game and a group excursion involving numerous team-building activities. For Carola Franzel, the benefits of the exemplary fostering of internal talent are clear: “By showing this commitment, we are actively combating the lack of specialists. Once their training is complete, we benefit from optimally qualified specialists who are not only used to working with their colleagues but are also extremely familiar with our company and our products – right from the outset.”
